The Reading Help You've Been Looking For

We’re here to Make a Dyfference and change lives
one word, one reader, one breakthrough at a time.

The Problem

Struggling readers often fall through the cracks—not because they aren’t capable, but because they aren’t taught in the way their brains learn best. Families feel overwhelmed. Teachers lack resources. Children lose confidence. We believe it doesn’t have to be this way.

Did you notice the “Y” in our name?

That “Y” represents dyslexia, differences,
and the unique way many learners see the world.

It’s intentional—just like our approach.

At Dyfference Makers, we celebrate learning differences
and provide clear, proven pathways to literacy success.

our story

Stapleton
My name is Stapleton, and when I was in third grade, we discovered that I have dyslexia. The hardest part was that no one knew for a long time—because I hid it. School felt overwhelming. I cried a lot and begged not to go. I didn’t know what was wrong, only that I felt different and scared. Home felt safe. School did not.

a parent's perspective

We spent years watching our son struggle, and we couldn’t understand why. We tried program after program, hoping something would finally make a difference. Nothing did.

He began to dread school. No one had the right tools or knew what to do. He shut down and acted out—and beneath all of it was a child who simply couldn’t read, didn’t know how to tell us, and wasn't getting the literacy support he needed in order to learn to read.

Once we understood his dyslexia, we could make a difference.

the turning point

When we discovered the Orton-Gillingham approach, everything changed. This structured, explicit, multisensory method finally addressed how Stapleton’s brain learns. Progress followed. Confidence returned. Hope grew.

We created Dyfference Makers so families wouldn’t have to walk this road alone—or spend years trying intervention after intervention without answers.
Every child deserves the chance to learn to read in a way that truly works for them. But too often, parents, teachers, and even schools need the tools to identify and support struggling readers.
That’s why we’re here. We advocate for children with dyslexia and struggling readers, and we equip the adults who love and teach them with clear, evidence‑based training.
Through our Orton‑Gillingham–aligned curriculum and supportive community, we’re helping create lasting literacy change—one child, one family, one classroom at a time.
